Had a great few days in Mt Maunganui. Weather was fabulous. Very lazy time by the pool or beach even had a swim or three. Only exercise was walking to a food place or around the shops. But did do the walk around the Mount (slowly) with lots of scenery stops. If they had a cafe at the top of the Mount I would probably climb it LOL. Went shopping & brought some winter clothes & shoes Yuk winter.
Back to work and reality now
Next holiday will be the Gold Coast as long as someone doesn't lose their passport again like last time & we had to cancel the trip. Just saying

Christchurch

My thoughts go out to people involved in this disaster. It is just one thing after another Pike River Queensland floods then cyclone, now poor Christchurch. Could not believe the iconic Catherdal what a mess. My workmates husband is down their as part of the search & rescue team shipped in from North Island. She is worried sick as he is at the CTV building (yes the one that was on fire) trying to rescue people.and what he does is dangerous eg rebuild internal support in collapsed buildings to enable rescuers to get in under collapsed floors etc Yikes.
There are some terrible stories that are coming out of this just ordinary people doing there everyday jobs and tasks. So sad.

Social time

Have spend last week shattered after attending the Sevens in Wellington Friday to Sunday. It is just one bit party and they happen to play a few games of rugby. The weather wasn't to hot TG so more enjoyable outside than usual. The customes were amazing again (loved the railway crossings with working bells & lights) and the atmosphere was its usual self. Meet people from all walks of life including some visiting Aussies dressed as green & gold Kangaroos! TG they didn't win the rugby. Part central after games have finished is down on Lambton Quay All the teens go and queue outside the bars up town All the more matures stay down by the waterfront No waiting necessary. Bands dancing with god knows who as everyone is still dressed up. Great fun until the next morning when the body is a bit sore (don't drink tg) but at least you don't have to worry about what to wear! The sights the next day are something to behold. Few walk of shames just going home.
Saturday is just as amusing and was a great finish when we won & the crowd went spare. Back up town and another replay of the night before Must remember not to wear jandals next time as they stick to the floor which makes it kind of hard to dance. Got home at 4am OMG and had to leave to hotel at 10am
Had no voice and was so stiff from walking and dancing (must get fit) Got home at 2pm went to bed and woke up for work the next day!! Survived to week but took a lot. Can't wait till next year.

Back to Work

Yeah Gods how will I cope for a whole week. Arrived back from Aussie yesterday so a bit of a shock to the system. Had a great relaxing time even tho the weather was wet wet wet. Didn't do much other than shop go to the beach, shop, and eat out for breakfast lunch and tea. Love the surf clubs over there as they serve up rather large dinners at very reasonable prices. Just very relaxing. Hopefully Air NZ will have some cheap fares available at some stage to return when the floods are over. TG we didn't go to Rockhampton as we had planned to. It  looks terrible up there.
Back to the grind

Hot muggy and showers

Love the weather bets winter. Had a call last week from friends Did I want to go to the Gold Coast for 10 days just pay for the airfare as someone had pulled out. Thinking thinking Hawkes Bay or the Gold Coast Thinking thinking. Ok I'm in. Now to tell Mum as feeling guilty. But it turns out my brothers house is being renovated living in rental accomodation & they are off to the in laws for Xmas come farewell to his wife's sister & her hubby off to England for 2 years if the snow has cleared. (shivers) So Mum is off to Wellington to have Xmas with my sister & her family, grandkids & greatgrandchild born 2 December. Yeah sorted, Will have Xnas with family when we get back with all my duty free orders!
Went out to lunch on Friday with work crowd was lovely food and service Had a few laughs but hard to go back to work.
Went for a 1 hour bike ride on my new bike on Saturday. Was great but must remember to have the wind behind me on the way home , take more water and buy some new bike pants! I am going to do some summer fun rides so need to get some distance in my legs & my bum used to a bike seat again.
My garden is going crazy (so are the weeds) My pride a joy tomatoes are looking very healthy. Planted some peas from seed and they have already come thru as have the pumpkin seed I saved. I always plant for failures so threw 9 seeds in and bugger me they all came up. God knows where they will spread to probably thru the fence into the neighours lawn. Oops
Anyhow no doubt the weeds will take over when I am away Will ahve to set up a few watering systems while I am away eg big coke bottles withthe bottom cut out filled with water & poked into the ground.
Merry Xmas to all A safe healthy & fun New Year.

Had a gorgious weekend weather wise so hit the garden. Dug the flower bed put in compost etc and went and brought some plants. Look lovely. Trimed Chatam Island forget me nots which have taken off in the rubbish plot. They are nice plants with lovely little blue flowers. Mowed lawns and trimmed edges. Hot and knackered. Now just got to trim around trees and down the side of the house. Then on to the vege garden. Planted some seeds (beans & tomatos) in seed raising mixture so hopefully they will sprout by the time I have ug the plot.
I love Monarch butterflies so I also purcahsed some Swan Plants They were covered in eggs by the next day but I didn't see one butterfly.
